N.W.T. coroner investigating Johnny Jr. Ningeongan’s death, RCMP say
The Northwest Territories’ coroner’s service is investigating the death of a 28-year-old Nunavut man days after he was reported missing in Yellowknife.
Johnny Jr. Ningeongan was last seen in the N.W.T capital on May 30, RCMP said Wednesday in a news release.
He was reported missing the following day with the RCMP stating that his family was concerned for his well being, and that he had “limited connections to the community” of Yellowknife.
Ningeongan was found dead June 2.
“The coroner’s service has been in communication with Mr. Ningeongan’s family in Nunavut and an autopsy has been ordered,” the RCMP news release said.
RCMP G Division spokesperson Cpl. Josh Seaward did not respond to a question seeking more information about the circumstances of Ningeongan’s death.
The RCMP is “assisting” the coroner’s investigation, Seaward said, directing inquiries to them.
N.W.T. deputy chief coroner Adriana Zibolenova declined comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
