Piluk, a 10-minute NFB production, has been selected for the festival’s Pardi di Domani competition, which showcases short- and medium-length films making their international premières.

Exploring identity and connection to the land, the film follows a girl named Piluk on a coming-of-age journey from the Arctic tundra to an urban landscape. It combines graphite, acrylic and pastel artwork on textured paper and an original score by Isaac.

“For my people, telling a story is an act of transmission,” Isaac said in the news release. “I wanted to create a timeless legend, working with Marc, who is an exceptional artist with an instinct for storytelling.”

The festival runs Aug. 5 to 15, according to the release.
