CamBay’s Omingmak Frolics seeks keen photogs for festival contest

Calling all camera buffs in Cambridge Bay: the 2012 Omingmak Frolics wants to see your photos by May 20.

As part of the Kitikmeot community’s annual spring festivities, organizers are inviting people in Cambridge Bay to submit photos taken in and around the community.

Photos can reflect the contest categories of wildlife, landscape, culture and events, including the Omingmak Frolics, and there will be also special youth category for young photographers 14 years and under.

You can submit up to three photos — which should be in a digital format (with a minimum resolution of 2,280 x 1452).

Each photo submitted should include your name, the subject, a simple description, date and location when you took the photo was taken and the names of the people in the photo, if there are any.

When you have everything organized, then send send your photos to Li Wan, who works as a technical advisor at the Nunavut Impact Review Board in Cambridge Bay.

He along with local photographers, Chris Arko, Denise LeBleu, Derrick Anderson and Tom Ng, will judge the contest submissions. Winners stand to collect $100 for first prizes, $50 for second prizes and $30 for third prizes.

The winning photos will be displayed on the screen at the Omingmak Frolic’s May 21 closing ceremonies.

All photos will be donated to the Hamlet of Cambridge Bay for future use, although photographers will keep their copyright to the photos.
