After investing $5 at the Iqaluit Amateur Hockey Association lotto booth at the Northmart store, Caroline Anautak of Iqaluit is now $100,000 richer.

Anautak uncovered three “Fun for Life” symbols on a Scratch ‘n” Win ticket she bought there —and found she won a $100,000 prize.

She took the ticket to the clerk.

“We both started shouting and people in the store came to see what was wrong,” Anautak said in a news release issued by the Western Canada Lottery Corp., which issued the ticket.

Anautak could have chosen to receive $5,000 each year for life, but decided instead to take the $100,000 in a lump sum.

She said in the news release that she plans to spend the money on a canoe, motor, snowmobile and sled.
