KLM jet makes emergency landing in Iqaluit

A huge Airbus A330-300 operated by Royal Dutch Airlines, or KLM, en route from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport to Calgary International Airport, landed for about two hours Aug. 21 at the Iqaluit airport.

A spokesperson for KLM said on Twitter that a medical emergency had prompted the unscheduled landing, although no details were provided about the emergency.

The 63 metre-long jet, which is able can carry up to 292 passengers, landed at about 1:30 p.m. in Iqaluit, with emergency vehicles then moving up to the aircraft’s doors.

After the stop, flight then continued on its way to Calgary, according to information posted on Flightaware.com.
