Nunavut man faces drug, firearms charges
Arrest follows weekend raid in Taloyoak

Members of the Nunavut RCMP seized drugs and firearms from a home in Taloyoak during weekend raid in the Kitikmeot community of about 900 people.
A Jan. 30 search at a local home turned up 25 grams of hash, cash and 12 “insecure” firearms, the Nunavut RCMP said in Feb. 1 release.
The hash was divided and packaged into 45 baggies, police said.
RCMP members arrested a 43-year-old man, who was later charged with drug trafficking and careless storage of a firearm.
The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court again April 27.
“The community of Taloyoak has identified illegal drugs as a priority for the Taloyaok RCMP,” police said in the Feb. 1 release.
“The RCMP wish to encourage the community to continue to report drug trafficking in Nunavut.”

Trigger locks for firearms are also available free of charge at any Government of Nunavut office, police said.
