Nunavut RCMP continue to probe suspicious death
Police arrest, then release, two people in relation to July 16 incident

A police investigation into the recent sudden death of a Pond Inlet man continues, Nunavut RCMP said this week, but police offered few new details on what they are calling a “suspicious” death.
Police in the Baffin community were called to respond to a disturbance at a local residence late July 16, when they discovered a a man in “medical distress.”
A 39-year-old man was taken to the Pond Inlet health centre where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
The RCMP sent in its major crimes unit to investigate, alongside the territorial coroner’s office.
RCMP spokeswoman Yvonne Niego said police initially arrested two individuals following the incident, although both have since been released without charges.
The man’s body has been sent to Ottawa for an autopsy. Until the investigation is complete, the coroner’s office said it can’t disclose the his name or cause of death.
