Bernice and Justin Clarke, owners of Uasau Soap, pose in their Iqaluit home Dec. 18 behind some of the cosmetic products they produce locally. The couple use their home kitchen to produce soaps, body butters and lip balm, among other things, which include Nunavut-harvested ingredients such as bowhead whale blubber and tundra flowers. Uasau is intended to mean “a cleaning agent.” The young startup created a buzz among local shoppers earlier this month at this year’s Christmas Craft Fair in Iqaluit.
