Joyce Ayaruak presents Rankin Inlet RCMP Sgt. Kim Melenchuk with a cheque for $1,340, proceeds from table rentals at the recent Rankin Inlet craft sale, to go toward the annual RCMP Christmas hamper fund. Running annually since 1996, the hamper fund provides food certificates of up to $250 to some 200 families and needy individuals to buy food for the holidays. Local businesses and individuals contribute to the fund throughout the year and this year, Maani Ulujuk Illinniarvik students are raffling off a TV. Rankin Inlet residents who want to be considered for a hamper can contact the local RCMP detachment. (PHOTO BY DOUG MCLARTY/ARCTECH DESIGN AND SERVICES)
