At long last, Inuit language radio broadcasting is coming to Cambridge Bay. The Kitikmeot Inuit Association wants to start an internet-driven regional radio service in Cambridge Bay and Kugluktuk, working with SSI Micro, which would broadcast elders' stories, language lessons and songs for a two- to four-hour radio service delivered over SSI Micro's satellite network. The KIA has already allocated $121,440 to the project, but its newly-established Kitikmeot Media Fund will aim to raise $200,000 a year from agencies like Heritage Canada and private foundations. It's part of KIA's 2011 language framework
