First we dance, then we play the ice: about 20 members of the Iqaluit Fiddle Club played before a packed gymnasium at Joamie School March 8. The fiddlers, who performed three lively jigs under the leadership of Darlene Nuqingaq, served as the opening act for Norwegian percussionist Terje Isungset's ice concert. Members of the Inuksuk Drum Dancers, Rachel Michael and Rosalie Ann Suclan, also performed before Isungset took to the stage. (PHOTO BY THOMAS ROHNER)
