Photo: Iqaluit wakes up from the storm

Residents of Iqaluit woke up Jan.8 to downed power lines, debris and giant snow drifts like this photo taken in Iqaluit’s Plateau neighbourhood, the morning after the centre of a violent blizzard blew through the southern Baffin region. Environment Canada recorded peak wind gusts of 135 km/h in Iqaluit Jan. 7, one of the highest sustained winds ever registered in Nunavut’s capital.
