Nash Sagiatook of Iqaluit in front of Ottawa City Hall May 31, just before more than 3,000 residential school survivors and non-Aboriginal supporters completed their noon-hour Walk for Reconciliation between Gatineau and Ottawa via Portage Bridge and Victoria Island. Sagiatook helped staff a health tent where counsellors were available to help anyone in emotional distress. Justice Murray Sinclair, head of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, said the TRC will release a 300-page executive summary of their final report June 2, with the two-million word full version of the report to come later after it's translated into various Aboriginal languages. On June 3, the TRC's public work will come to a close, following a round dance and concert featuring Buffy Saint-Marie. To see more photos, go to our Facebook page for an album of images.
