Ajjiit Media’s Alethea Arnaquq-Baril speaks at the opening of a Nunavut TV conference in Iqaluit March 6. The conference has gathered representatives from the territory’s media industry, Inuit language proponents and leaders to discuss the potential for a Inuktitut-language television broadcaster in Nunavut. “The main goal of the network is to have content where Inuit can engage on issues that matter to us, to have a say in how we want things to turn out,” Arnaquq-Baril said. The conference wraps up later this week with a March 8 screening of Kugluktuk native Stacey Aglok MacDonald’s short film Throat Song, followed by an industry awards ceremony.
