Merle Carpenter, left, a sergeant with the Canadian Police College in Ottawa, and Dr. Aruna Gore, from the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology in British Columbia, listen to questions from the media May 21 at the Nunavut RCMP headquarters in Iqaluit. The duo gave a presentation on their plans for an Inuit Cadet Development Program in Iqaluit, a collaborative effort with various Nunavut organizations including Arctic College. The information session aimed to attract Inuit interested in careers with the Nunavut RCMP, or other law enforcement agencies, but only reporters showed up to the event. Still, plans for the program are moving ahead with the hope of starting up in 2016. (PHOTO BY THOMAS ROHNER)
