Sheila Watt-Cloutier hands a signed copy of her recently released memoir, The Right to be Cold, to a young fan at Arctic Ventures in Iqaluit May 2. The Inuk activist drew dozens of admirers to a brief book-signing event at the store, where copies sold out within minutes. Watt-Cloutier’s story reflects on the changes Inuit have experienced, from life on the land to settled communities, and her activism against global warming. “I’d like people to understand that anyone who’s from a small community can still make an impact and influence what’s going on in our lives, and how the Arctic is going to be negatively impacted,” she said.
