It’s a date — on Dec. 15, voters in Nunavut’s Aggu constituency will go back to the polls for a second time to elect an MLA.
Elections Nunavut made the announcement Monday on Facebook.
Several races in the Oct. 27 territorial elections were nail-biters, but none were as close as the one in Aggu, which encompasses the northern part of Igloolik.
Incumbent Joanna Quassa and her opponent Erasmus Ivvalu tied with 105 votes apiece, and a judicial recount confirmed they received identical vote counts.
The tie triggered the need for a new vote under the Nunavut Elections Act.
In its Facebook announcement, Elections Nunavut said Nunavummiut wishing to declare their candidacy to run in the Aggu election have until Friday at 2 p.m. local time to do so.
Election day poll locations have not yet been announced, but a mobile poll is set for Dec. 8. Early voting in the office of the returning officer in the M&R Building runs from Dec. 1 to 11. People wishing to mail in their ballot have until Dec. 8 to make that request.

Everyone who failed to get elected in October can try again in Aggu.
