IQALUIT —The Qikiqtaaluk Corporation’s chief executive officer has left his job and no one is able to say why..
QC President Jerry Ell has confirmed that Pitse Pfeifer is no longer CEO of the Inuit development corporation “at this point.”
Ell would not disclose the reasons for Pfeifer’s departure, saying only that the matter is “private and confidential.”
Ell told Nunatsiaq News that QC is not looking to replace Pfeifer “at this point.” Ell also said he is not acting as CEO.
The CEO oversees the operations of the corporation and reports to the president and the board of directors.
Pfeifer was hired as CEO last fall after being trained for the position.
When contacted, Pfeifer called the turn of events “a long story,” and declined to explain.
“I’m not ready to tell it yet… everything is still pending, everything is under investigation,” Pfeifer said.
Pfeifer is now driving a cab for Pai-Pa Taxi Ltd. “Got to help them out, keep bringing in the bucks for the family,” he said.
All Nunavut land claim beneficiaries in the Baffin region are shareholders of the Qikiqtaaluk Corp.
