COVID-19 vaccines are now available to all children in Nunavut ages six months and older, the territory’s Health Department announced Friday.
In July, the department said COVID-19 vaccines would be available to four-year-olds first, as well as children four and younger who are at risk of severe complications from COVID-19 infection. That included children considered to be immunocompromised, who have severe lung disease, are on long-term steroid treatment, or undergoing treatment for cancer.
Friday’s announcement means COVID-19 vaccines are now available to all Nunavummiut ages six months and up.
The vaccine for younger children is given at a lower dosage than for older ones, the department said.
Vaccine appointments can be made by contacting the local health centre. More COVID-19 information is available on the Government of Nunavut website.
