A new study grant that can be worth close to $5,000 is available to students enrolled in part-time post-secondary programs this fall.
The Government of Nunavut’s Department of Education announced the grant on July 26 through its Financial Assistance for Nunavut Students program, known as FANS.
The grant is designed to help students studying part-time, with up to $4,943 in tuition, books and other fees covered per academic year.
Eligibility requirements include living in Nunavut for at least a year continuously immediately before registering for school, being a student at an approved institution, and not already receiving a basic grant, which covers school expenses and travel.
Non-Nunavut Inuit may also be eligible for the part-time grant, for a maximum of four years, minus the number of years they have received a basic grant.
Applications are open until Aug. 15.
