RCMP are investigating after vandals targeted the Iqaluit Elders Home Sunday.

Officers responded to a report Sunday shortly after 6:30 p.m. about rocks being thrown at the elder’s facility and the van. The incident resulted in a broken window in the van used by the home to transport residents.

The van’s broken window had been temporarily repaired with tape on Monday.

If no suspects are identified, the investigation will be concluded, RCMP spokesperson Sgt. George Henrie said in an email to Nunatsiaq News.

The file can be reopened if police receive new information, he added.

The Nunavut government-run elders home is located on Queen Elizabeth II Way and has eight beds for seniors who require lower levels of assisted care.

Staff at the home declined to comment.

The neighbouring places can assist like Northern and Government services right next door and school across the road from Elders homes that has cameras=maybe time for Elders home to have proper safety cameras installed .These children need some discipline and clean around the elders homes for vandalizing vehicle and more. We can do something as Elders to maintain safety well being.
