Iqaluit RCMP say wanted man arrested without incident

Pauloosie Alainga, 37, arrested late Tuesday evening

An Iqaluit man wanted by police has been arrested without incident, says the Nunavut RCMP.

On Aug. 28, the Nunavut RCMP had asked for the public’s help in locating Pauloosie Alainga, 37, who faces two counts of assault causing bodily harm and two counts of failure to comply with a probation order.

Alainga was arrested on Tuesday, Sept. 1, at 11:20 p.m., according to an RCMP news release issued on Wednesday, Sept. 2.

Alainga has been remanded until his next scheduled court date on Thursday, Sept. 3.

The RCMP says it thanks the public for its assistance locating Alainga.

    Not sure what happened in this case, but there’s been more random violence in iqaluit this summer. And it’s not a secret that there’s a lot of meth and speed in town right now. Anyone who knows anything about addiction knows that that stuff is dangerous and will make users do strange things. It’s on a whole different level than alcohol. A lot of the bizarre crimes in town this summer have had something to do with these drugs.
    .
    If you know who’s selling meth or speed in town call the police asap. That stuff will wreck havoc on the popular if it keeps going.
