Iqaluit residents with household hazardous waste and old paint cans stored at their homes can safely dispose of them this weekend.
The city is inviting community members to drop off their hazardous materials at building 623 at the Four Corners on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., it announced Wednesday.
Residents are asked to handle materials with care as they may be toxic or flammable, and keep labels on products they’re dropping off to reduce the need for testing.
Some of the materials the city will accept include adhesives, aerosols, car and household batteries, cleaners, corrosives, fuels, mercury, oxidizers, poisons, paint cans, pharmaceuticals and solvents.
The city has listed a number of items that will not be accepted, including anti-freeze, electronics waste, used oil, oil filters, oil containers, tires, propane tanks, biological waste, infectious or radioactive waste, explosives, ammunition and industrial waste.
This is excellent. I thought I had missed this. See you Saturday!
