Lawyer retained for man charged with murder of Jolene Arreak in Ottawa
Arreak, 46, was from Pond Inlet; Manasi Foo also faces attempted murder charge

Manasi Foo, who is charged with second-degree murder in the Christmas Day death in Ottawa of Jolene Arreak and attempted murder of Ji Pang Foo, now has a lawyer.
An agent for lawyer Michael Davies told court Friday that Davies has been retained as legal counsel.
Foo’s last appearance, on Jan. 10, was adjourned while he applied for representation through legal aid.
Arreak, 46, died Dec. 25 at a home on Spadina Avenue in Ottawa’s Hintonburg neighbourhood. She was originally from Pond Inlet.
Police have not said how she died.
Foo, 35, first appeared in an Ottawa court on the charges on Dec. 26. He remains in custody and attended Friday’s proceedings via audio feed.
His next court appearance is scheduled for Feb. 7.
