An 18-year-old was arrested in Clyde River on Monday following what Nunavut RCMP in the hamlet of about 1,200 people describe as a “firearms complaint.”

Officers responded to an incident at a home in the community’s 200 block at around 5:30 a.m., said Cpl. George Henrie, RCMP spokesperson, in an email.

Upon their arrival, they found a 36-year-old man with “non-life-threatening injuries.”

An 18-year-old man was arrested, Henrie said. He did not identify the man or say whether he was charged.

“The matter is still under investigation, I don’t have any other information I can share at this time,” Henrie said, when asked about the suspect’s identity and possible charges.

“This appears to be an isolated incident, as both persons are known to each other,” he said.
