Police have arrested a man in Iqaluit on 26 charges related to thefts and break-ins that occurred at businesses in the city over the past several months.

Iqaluit RCMP opened an investigation Nov. 6, police said Friday in a news release announcing the arrest.

The release does not specify which businesses were targeted and does not detail how much money or what else was allegedly stolen.

The 43-year-old suspect is charged with 13 counts of possession of a weapon obtained by the commission of an offence; six counts of possession of property obtained by crime; and two counts of careless storage of a firearm.

He is also charged with one count each of break and enter, theft over $5,000, theft of a credit card, fraudulently obtaining food or lodging, and using a forged document.

The man is scheduled to appear in court in Iqaluit on Dec. 2.

RCMP say their investigation is ongoing and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.

    Finally working so hard.
After several months police know about until something happen with the investigators. Tell me how to contact the investigators. I have been trying to contact them for three years now. And jeremy tungaluk said when he become president for NTI there would be working on mental health to inuits and still nothing. That’s how most of the politicians works, all talk no action until something bad happen to them.
