RCMP in Iqaluit say they’ve received a complaint from a resident who found a needle in their child’s Halloween candy on Thursday.

The child had been trick-or-treating in the Tundra Ridge area. The needle was found in a Cadbury Egg candy, RCMP said in a news release Friday.

The child was unharmed. RCMP are asking residents to report any unusual candies their children received.

In 2022, the RCMP received at least two similar complaints from Iqaluit parents whose children collected candy in the Plateau area. In those instances, pins were found in the candy.

Before Halloween this week, the City of Iqaluit issued a safety advisory reminding parents to inspect their kids’ candies after trick-or-treating.
