Nunavik health officials say they’ve confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in Tasiujaq.

The individual travelled to the Ungava coast community from the south before the case was confirmed, and has since left the community, the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services said in a news release on Friday, Dec. 11.

The health board said the individual was not in any significant contact with other people in the community of about 370.

The new case is the region’s 30th, but 28 other people who had previously been infected with COVID-19 are now considered recovered. There is currently one other active case of COVID-19 in the region, in Salluit.

Anyone in Nunavik who has symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, unusual cough, difficulty breathing or a loss of sense of smell, should contact the region’s COVID-19 health line at 1-888-662-7482 or call their local health centre.

So , was this person, tested in Tasiujaq, and results were given as positive as the person was still in the village? I’m just be the devil’s advocate here. It’s not clear , dear health a authorities. Where was this person tested, and where was this person as the results came around? And the person has left the village. Not by walking alone , probably not by skidoo. By a flight, but what flight and where did this person go? Where ever this person have gone, does that make the new place of his or her arrival , as being a positive case in the new destination? And if this person did come from the south, and came in by not having a test result issue in a timely frame, as some came qualifiy to do, why let anyone in to Nunavik without the actually negative results, at the time of travel, yea I know it takes time for covid to work thru the body, but let’s have no test results treathed the same as being a positive result, why not. Why do some people get a special privilege to come into Nunavik with no results issue?

There is no one that is travelling without getting a result, the problem is that right after people gets their result the are still going around and doing their shopping and other stuff before travelling, and then by keeping on doing that, people are at risk to mixte with other people that might be having the Covid. Then people are travelling up North thinking they are ok , but they might be infected, therefore I strongly hope Public health change the way to do things , to whoever is coming from the south , get there test done, and obtain a negative result and place themselves in isolation , since people are coming to work it should be their work that pay for the hotel so people can really do a real quarantine!

Again Kuujjuaq as one case, for sure it’s because right after getting their test people do whatever they want instead of confining themselve until the departure day. Kuujjuaq as another case, what are local authorities doing to prevent this from happening????
