Answers

  1. B — The name of the program is Canada Strong. In Nunavut, back-country day-use fees will be waived and a 25 per cent discount on overnight backcountry fees is available at places like Auyuittuq National Park and Sirmilik National Park.
  2. C — The honour goes to Charlie Taqqik, from Salluit. His album, titled Taqqik, includes seven songs. His sister, acclaimed singer Elisapie, performed on three of the songs on Taqqik’s album.
  3. C — It was Stephen Harper, who served as prime minister from 2006 to 2015. Speaking in Iqaluit, he was critical of Canada’s development of the Arctic, calling it “abysmal” but adding the new focus on improving northern security offers an opportunity to correct that.
  4. B — The answer is 18 units have been built, for the project whose deadline passed eight months ago.
  5. C — Manitok Thompson was executive director at Inuit Broadcasting until her final day there on June 27. While she has retired, she isn’t confident she will stay retired. “I just need a breather. Give me two months, and I’ll probably show up again,” she told Nunatsiaq News recently.
