Northern Youth Abroad says thanks
Northern Youth Abroad would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the 22 Nunavummiut graduates of NYA’s 2010 Canadian and international Programs.
Given recent coverage of Auditor General Sheila Fraser’s report on the Government of Nunavut’s Human Resources capacity, we would like to acknowledge the GN’s continued support of our programming and participants.
NYA is working to prepare the next generation of Nunavummiut for the workforce by providing hands-on work and travel experience to young beneficiaries.
We assist and encourage youth to complete their high school studies and provide them with the support to further pursue training opportunities after graduation. We feel confident that many will eventually become leaders in their communities across Nunavut.
This year’s participants join the more than 200 Nunavut alumni who have completed one or both of NYA’s core programs. The majority of our alumni have completed high school and many have gone on to post-secondary programs.
We have alumni working in positions in every sector, meeting Fraser’s stated need of “more emphasis on students completing high school and going on to post-secondary education.”
Northern Youth Abroad is entering its fourteenth year of programming and is now recruiting participants for our 2011 Canadian and international Programs.
Any youth between the ages of 15 and 20 living in Nunavut is invited to apply, and applications are available online at www.nya.ca, and in schools and hamlet offices.
