To editors of Nunatsiaq News,
First; I would like to offer a hearty congratulations on 50 years in the rapidly changing world of the fifth estate. It’s a tough business that few last years in operation, half a century of delivering the news of a province … region … community of people.
The word tenacious is apt to describe your international newspaper. Fantastic!
Second; Thank you from those of us in C-Pod currently in the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre (OCDC). The group of all of us here enjoy the weekly deliver of the Nunatsiaq News.
The news, the stories, the fantastic photography and even the advertisements are enlightening and entertaining. OCDC is much like a train station, everyone is waiting for something to arrive or leave, which leaves a significant amount of time to wait.
Nunatsiaq News is one of the favourites that arrives and everyone here is excited for regardless of their background or ancestry. I can promise that each issue is read a half-dozen times and discussed as fervently as any sporting event or local interest in Ottawa.
Personally, I love the fact there are classifieds. You can get a sense of a community by two public features: classifieds and supermarket cork bulletin boards. Both features, for the most part in Ottawa, have vanished due to modernization of news media and its outlets.
Third; I have a couple of Inuit buddies I’ve thrown a couple back with over the years. You give them an international voice and remind them there are still people back home doing OK. Life is still trucking along.
Fourth; it is a super-fun paper to read. Many thanks to your staff and cheers to the next 50 years of awesome reporting. Thank you so much.
Sincerely,
Christopher Pierre Lynn
Ottawa, Ont.

Yeah. Please hold back on their cleaning out their income to buy weed or alcohol. Its a great way to become clean. In the communties, thats all they do, cleaning out peoples income, constant monitoring of good people avoiding having enjoyment of their lives.
