Nunavut counts 477 COVID-19 cases in 18 communities

There are 477 active cases of COVID-19 confirmed in 18 Nunavut communities on Monday, with Arctic Bay being added to the list over the weekend.
Clyde River and Grise Fiord are now the only communities that have not had a case confirmed during the current wave of the pandemic.
Kugaaruk’s case count jumped from one to 16 over the weekend and in Igloolik, the case count rose to 42 over the weekend, up from 25 on Friday.
The community with the most cases in Nunavut was Iqaluit on Monday, followed by Rankin Inlet and Taloyoak.

Since the start of the Omicron wave of COVID-19 in Nunavut in mid-December, there have been 1,083 recovered cases, 19 hospitalizations and one death.
Nunavut Premier P.J. Akeeagok and the territory’s chief public health officer, Dr. Michael Patterson, are scheduled to give an update on the COVID-19 situation on Tuesday at 11 a.m. ET, which can be streamed on the legislative assembly’s website.


So, 1500 cases of Omicron in Nunavut. If the typical 20% develop into Long COVID, Nunavut has 300 cases of Long COVID to deal with, so far.
