With yesterday’s announcement that legislative assembly Speaker Simeon Mikkungwak will be resigning his position at the close of business today, the Nunavut Leadership Forum will waste no time in selecting the next Speaker.

The forum, which consists of all regular MLAs, will be gathering tomorrow morning, Feb. 26, at 9 a.m., to select Mikkungwak’s replacement.

As with all regularly scheduled sittings of the assembly, tomorrow’s proceedings will be open to the public and also broadcast live on local community cable stations and on home satellite services such as Bell (channel 513) and Shaw (channel 289 or 489).

The morning’s events will also be live-streamed on the legislative assembly’s website.
