Qulliq Energy Corp. is planning outages in Kimmirut and Resolute Bay this weekend, with the possibility of an outage in Iqaluit as well.

The corporation announced the outages in a series of public service announcements Thursday as it gears up for a weekend of work.

In Resolute Bay, QEC is carrying out maintenance on the power lines to get them ready for winter. A planned outage is set to take place Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. to allow for this work.

In Kimmirut, QEC is installing a new generator in the hamlet’s power plant. An outage is scheduled for Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m.

In Iqaluit, QEC says it expects to be able to connect a new generator to its power plant without interrupting power to the community.

“However, a temporary outage remains possible in the event of an unexpected equipment malfunction,” the announcement said.

The scheduled work in Iqaluit is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
