The search continues for 11-year-old Jonas Klengenberg, who was reported missing a week ago in Kugluktuk.
The boy was last seen on Aug. 1 leaving his home early in the morning, Kugluktuk RCMP said the next day. In an update released Wednesday, police said multiple searches have failed to locate him.
Klengenberg is described as four feet tall, weighing 52 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. When he was last seen, he was wearing grey one-piece pyjamas and black and red shoes.
RCMP and local search and rescue members have been working together to conduct air and water searches but they have been unsuccessful.
Now, efforts have been scaled back to ground searches using all-terrain vehicles, RCMP spokesperson Cpl. George Henrie said in Wednesday’s update.
Facebook posts on the Kugluktuk news page have urged residents to check their homes, sheds, culverts, dog houses, dumpsters and anywhere else a child could be located.
Kugluktuk RCMP asked anyone with information on Klengenberg’s whereabouts to contact their detachment at 982-1111.
