Social services in Kugaaruk are temporarily being provided remotely from Taloyoak due to staff shortages in the hamlet’s family wellness office.

The reduction in services may affect families and children and is expected to last until Sept. 4, a public service announcement The Department of Family Services issued Monday said.

Service reductions are subject to change based on staff availability and the wellness office is expected to return to full capacity by Sept. 4, according to the announcement.

For emergencies, residents should contact an on-call community social worker at 867-222-9465.

My daughter is a nurse, health centers are simply overwhelm at times, most working days she;s at work well past quitting time. I would suggest many of us try to understand their working conditions and at which times, the moral issues are compounded by few very demanding ppls whom thinking is they are the most important ppl on their communities..

Inuit please do not give these people a hard time trying to help your community, I understand and seen the past, I was there and right in the middle of it, but they are there to yes pay off student debt or whatever the reason maybe, but the intention to help or make a difference there, but most times dreams and aspirations are quickly shattered by drunken or angry insults or sometimes threats and physical violence, and they leave, then you blame the government. I don’t think I need say more

Nearly 20% of people in Canada do not have a family doctor; there are long wait times to see a doctor or a specialist. If one is treated, the care is usually good, but often wrong; follow-up care is rare. Antisocial federal and territorial government regulation and policy, entitled bureaucrats, and rampant corruption have brought a perfect storm-of-rot to Canada
