A foundation that for years has sent youth on polar adventures is heading to Nunavut again this year at the end of July.
The Students on Ice Foundation is sending 20 youth, aged 18 to 24, on a trip from Kangerlussuaq, Greenland, to Nunavut from July 31 to Aug. 15.
They will sail on the ship Ocean Endeavour.
Stops in Nunavut include the Tallurutiup Imanga National Marine Conservation Area in Lancaster Sound, which separates Devon Island from Baffin Island. The ship will then head south to Pond Inlet before heading back north to Beechey Island and the Devon Island Ice Cap, before the group disembarks in Resolute.
Students on Ice didn’t provide any details on when these stops will occur.
A previous expedition left Nain, N.L. on July 22 and will make its way to Labrador’s Torngat Mountains National Park before arriving in Iqaluit on Aug. 6.
Students on Ice has been taking youth on educational expeditions to the Arctic and Antarctic since 2000.
