Thanks from the Korgak family
Since our house caught fire on January 23, 2011, we have finally found the time to express our heart-felt thank you and appreciation for all the help and support shown by our neighbors, family, friends, co-workers and people that we have never met before; this is community support at its best.
To list every individual by name that came at our hour of need would be virtually impossible, as so many people, including people that we have never met or know, came by and gave so much.
I do want to express, on behalf of my family ( Martha, Linda and Aimo ) to some of the many people who gave so much: Janet, Janelle, Ram, Imoe, Anita, Josh, Jennifer, John and family, Amy, Markus and family, Jillian, Margaret, Theresa, Carolina, Alana, Stephanie, Sarah, BJ, Alison and Henry, Mary-Ellen, Amie, Art and family, Janice, Geraldine, Susie, Alison, Lena, Leesa, David and Robyn, Karliin, Jamal & family, Elisapee and Nick & family, Lenora, Okalik, Delilah andJohnny family, Tuuraqraq and so many more people who gave.
We simply did not get their names down, but are no less equally appreciated as the people that we have named, thank you.
We would also like to say a big thank you to the Royal Purple foundation (Alison & Carol and other members) for the gift certificate; Northern Stores Iqaluit and NorthMart (Art and staff) for their kind donation of baby items; Canadian North (Cindy and the whole CN crew) for the food hamper; Sandy MacDonald and family for the gift certficate and a big thank you to the Tammaqtaqviq Boarding Home (Oleepeeka, Jim and the whole staff.)
Thank you to our family: Etuaqjuk, Mosesie, Sarah, Pat, Amie, Art, Mary, Paul, Atsinak, Brian, Seemeega, Naulaq, Evie, John, Keemaloo, Adla, Micky, Eena) and the rest of the extended family members.
A special thank you to Charlie Auksaq and his family for their quick reaction to get Linda and Aimo out of the house when they noticed our house was on fire, and then taking them in.
Last, but not least, to the Iqaluit Fire Department and the emergency crew, who quickly put out the fire once they got there.
I say “once they got there” with genuine appreciation, as the house caught fire during a full-blown blizzard and that they were even able to come out and put out the fire shows their dedication and professionalism.
The house has extensive smoke damage and will need to be completely rebuilt from the inside, but we have started the rebuilding process. We are thankful no one got hurt and again thank you.
Aimo, Linda, Martha and Ainiak Korgak
