Twin Mining to continue diamond exploration in Jackson Inlet

Twin Mining Corporation is going ahead with the first phase of a $10-million exploration project to explore its Jackson Inlet diamond property, 120 kilometres west of Nanisivik, on the Brodeur peninsula.

Twin Mining has seen more signs of kimberlite “fields” on its property, which are full of kimberlite pipes, the formations that usually produce diamonds.

This summer the company will spend $1.7 million to continue surveys, soil sampling and core drilling on 12 promising sites. Further tests are planned on a pipe where 50 carats of high-quality diamonds have been found,

The largest diamond found so far was a 1.557-carat stone. In other samples, 30 diamonds larger than 0.25 carats were found.
