Two men face charges related to drug trafficking and firearms after RCMP searched two Iqaluit residences on May 12.

A 41-year-old man is charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, unsafe storage of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon, RCMP said Friday in a news release.

The other man, a 35-year-old, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime.

Both are scheduled to appear in court in Iqaluit on July 17.

It’s so sad that as usual the locals are busted
You can tell that these 2 guys clearly did not or have no way of bringing the drugs in
Its always a qallunaq or puatiki that has brought it in town

This is Canada – what do you think Gladue does? Punishment by race, that is the Canadian way.

I just hope that this article marks the beginning of Nunatsiaq implementing a consistent policy of naming (or not) people charged with crimes. It’s been so disappointing to see some people named and others not for no coherent reason.
