A woman in Salluit was taken into police custody Thursday after a vehicle that had been seen driving erratically crashed into a house.

A video of the incident, posted on social media around 7:30 p.m., shows police officers pulling a woman from a vehicle that had apparently just crashed into the house, striking a metal staircase.

Smoke or steam is seen coming from around the motor as officers pulled the person through the passenger-side window.

Nunavik Police Service deputy Chief Shaun Longstreet said Salluit officers responded to a report that a 24-year-old female suspected of driving while impaired was seen driving erratically.

“Officers responded immediately to the call,” he said in an email to Nunatsiaq News. “Upon locating the vehicle, they observed the driver exhibiting erratic and dangerous driving behaviour, and [the driver] attempted to evade the police.”

Longstreet said officers intercepted the vehicle and a female suspect was arrested without incident or injury.

“Following the arrest, the suspect underwent a medical evaluation at the local [health centre] to ensure her well-being,” Longstreet said.

He said the woman was being held in custody to appear in court Friday afternoon. Longstreet did not specify what charge or charges the woman faces.

There was no estimate of damage done to the house that was struck.

    There sure are videos.

The amount of hatred on social media for these cops doing their jobs is unreal. This woman was a danger to the entire community. Many people go into work and sit at a computer, or work in a store, or do a trade with safety precautions. These cops had to go to work that morning not knowing they would have to chase down and be in vehicle collisions with a woman who had a total disregard for everybody’s safety, community members included. And they get no thanks for taking that danger off the streets.

The more severe your actions, the more severe your consequences. And no, I am not a cop or relative of a cop.

I like, I’m sure hundreds of others, saw the video of the violent “take down” of the suspect.

It clearly showed the NPS personal involved ripping the small female out of the truck window resulting with her falling flat on her face , and going into what can be best described as spasmatic convulsions. (Watch her feet in the video)

I guess Nunavimuit are being lead to believe, this is “normal” police procedure, that comes with their extensive training.

Maybe should put back the word “Force” back in their name and remove “Service”

It appears all 3 NPS personal in the video were acting on rage fueled by their adrenaline with no effort to de-escalate.
