A weekly drop-in clinic for new or expectant Iqaluit mothers to receive weight checks, education and support for their babies is open in Iqaluit on Wednesday afternoons, the Government of Nunavut said in a public service announcement issued Tuesday.

The program is for women who are pregnant or who have babies up to 18 months old, or two years old if they are breastfeeding, according to the GN statement.

The clinics are a joint initiative of the Canadian Prenatal Nutrition Program and Iqaluit Public Health.

A co-ordinator from the nutrition program will be on hand to provide healthy snacks as well as taxi vouchers for those who need one. Public health nurses will check babies’ weight and provide advice to new and expectant mothers.

Masks are still required in public health facilities and will be provided to anyone needing one when they arrive.

Clinics will run every Wednesday from 1 to 4 p.m. at Iqaluit Public Health in building 1091. No appointment is necessary.

I can’t imagine being so ignorant to make fun of a medical student that was discussed in another article like this… I doubt you are a doctor yourself, but you seem really happy to try and drag down someone doing something with their life to your level.
      .
The comments in that other article were so ignorant and aggressive and it seemed like half of the people didn’t read the article, or were too dull to understand what was being said in it pretty clearly, and now you want to turn these comments into the same kinda ignorant circus….
      .
So many people have nothing better to do than just crap on people making a difference, and it’s really sad to see… grow up!

Are you one of the posters with 50-70 downvotes from the article?

What about the seriously underfunded understaffed rest of the communities. Rankin and arviat have physically more babies born than Iqaluit. Iqaluit has an obs team, prenatal classes and baby drop in afternoons. the rest of the territory is scrambling for the bare necessities of health care. We are humans too. Maybe create equal access to bare necessities across the board before creating lavish bonus services in one town because it’s the capital. Oh yea I forgot were worthless to Nunavut from kivalliq
