An Igloolik man faces a charge of aggravated assault after a stabbing in the Baffin community this past weekend, the Nunavut RCMP said.
RCMP in Igloolik responded to a call late Oct. 3, where they discovered a woman with stab wounds. The victim was flown first to Iqaluit, and then on to Ottawa, where she is being treated for non- life threatening injuries.
The same evening, police arrested a 55-year-old man, who was charged with aggravated assault, the RCMP said Oct. 6.
The alleged attacker has since attended a bail hearing with a Justice of the Peace, where he was released on strict conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 2.
