Thank you to the people of Pond Inlet

By NUNATSIAQ NEWS

On July 10, 2008, the search began for the late Boaz Idlout, involving 80 local people, a police dog, and a chartered helicopter.

The search was called off on July 23, 2008, when the searchers came back empty-handed. The weather was hot, and they never gave up for two weeks, hoping to recover the him alive.

On Aug. 21, 2011, his body was found by two local men. There were a lot of mixed emotions when we heard the news; happy that it was found, sad that we weren’t able to see him.

But the family was finally able to have closure.

We will never forget the extensive effort that was made by the people of Pond Inlet, Search and Rescue, the RCMP and last, but not least, the two local men who still hoped to find the body dead or alive.

On behalf of Boaz Idlout’s family, we would like to thank the people of Pond Inlet, local Search & Rescue, RCMP and the people who were involved in the search.

Also, all the support that we received from family near and far during the time of our need. May God bless you all and keep you all.

It’s because of all of you that the family had closure and stopped all the wondering. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
