Arnait Video Productions is on the look-out for an Inuk tween to cast in its new cooking show geared towards children.

Elisapee’s Cooking Show for Children follows the recipes of 12-year-old Elisapee, who has set up cameras in her kitchen to share easy-to-make recipes that use traditional northern foods paired with exotic flavourings.

The goal of the show is to inspire kids of all backgrounds to cook with country foods in a fun, education and playful way, Arnait said.

Some examples of her creations: caribou burgers with bannock buns, muskox meatballs with homemade spaghetti noodles or grilled cloudberries in Inuit ice cream, made of caribou fat.

Arnait is looking for an Inuk girl aged between 11 and 14 years old to cast as Elisapee, who the production company describes as “fun, athletic, curious, respectful, adventurous, innovative and proud to be Inuk,” Arnait Video posted on its Facebook page Jan.7.

“She has one foot in the modern world and the other in the traditional. Elisapee speaks Inuktitut and loves adventure. She dreams to travel the world.”

Elisapee also has an uncle, George, who’s a handyman. Every day he visits the local dump to find things to bring home and then recycles them. He’s also a big fan of his niece’s cooking.

Arnait is looking to cast an Inuk man between 30 to 35 years of age to play the character of George.

To submit an application to play the role of Elisapee or George, Arnait wants you to send your name, address, a line explaining why you want to star in the show and a photo to infor@arnativideo.ca.

The Igloolik and Montreal-based Arnait has produced film, television and feature-length documentaries in Nunavut since 1991.
