New case of COVID-19 confirmed in Kuujjuaq

Significant contacts have been put in isolation, says Nunavik’s health board

Nunavik health authorities confirmed a new case of COVID-19 in Kuujjuaq over the weekend.

The individual was infected with COVID-19 in the south and received a positive test result on Dec. 11 in Kuujjuaq, according to an email from the Nunavik Regional Board of Health and Social Services.

The individual in now in isolation, said Josée Levesque, communication co-ordinator for the board.

The email states those who have been identified as significant contacts are in isolation. There is no additional risk to the community.

Nunavik health officials announced one other case of COVID-19 last week, in Tasiujaq, though that individual has since left the community. There is currently one other active case of COVID-19 in the region, in Salluit.

Nunavimmiut who are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, such as fever, cough, difficulty breathing, or loss of taste and small, should contact the COVID health line 1-888-662-7482 or call their local health centre.
