Etua Snowball is nominated for his children’s book ‘The Wolf Pup’
Kuujjuaq writer Etua Snowball is one of four authors shortlisted for a 2024 Quebec Writers’ Federation literary award.
The annual awards were established in 1998 and honour emerging and established English-language writers in Quebec.
Snowball’s book The Wolf Pup is nominated for the Janet Savage Blachford Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature, the federation announced last week on its website.
The Wolf Pup tells the story of a young boy who befriends an Arctic wolf pup at a remote camp and the two bond over the course of the summer.
The Janet Savage Blachford Prize for Children’s and Young Adult Literature is awarded to a picture book for beginner readers or young adult readers.
Winners of the book awards will receive a prize of $3,000.
In addition to his writing, Snowball is an award-winning musician and the executive director at the Isuarsivik Regional Recovery Centre.
The winners of the prizes will be announced at the QWF awards gala on Nov. 12 at the Cabaret Lion d’Or in Montreal.
