A tip from a Canada Post employee led to the arrest of two men on drug-related charges, Nunavut RCMP said in a news release.

Officers in Iqaluit, acting on a warrant, searched a home on Tundra Ridge on March 13 and seized approximately $27,000 in cash, four cellphones, a drug scoresheet and a crossbow, according to the release issued Tuesday.

“A drug scoresheet is used to track or score information related to drug activity,” RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Ashley Daley said in an email Tuesday.

Two men were charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and criminal conspiracy. One of the men was also charged with possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, and possession of a prohibited crossbow.

The tip from a Canada Post inspector came in September 2025, alerting RCMP to a package destined for Iqaluit identified as “non-mailable matter.” After an investigation, the package was found to contain approximately one kilogram of cocaine, the RCMP release said.

Further investigation by Iqaluit RCMP led to the arrest of the two men.

On March 20, officers in Iqaluit carried out a search warrant for a parcel that was shipped out of Iqaluit. The parcel contained a 100-ounce silver bar, which was seized, the release said.

In her email, Daley said the bar was shipped by one of the suspects to a destination outside of Nunavut. She said the reason it was shipped isn’t known yet.

Both men have been released but are scheduled to appear in court in Iqaluit on April 20.

Correction: This article has been updated from its originally published version to report that the silver bar police seized was mailed to a destination outside of Nunavut.

People selling hard drugs and with weapons should not be put back on the street. They are dangerous to the general public. Nunavut is having enough issues just with the beer and wine store and than you did hard drugs this is creating unnecessary extra hardship!
