Premier P.J. Akeeagok has announced changes to his cabinet.

Pamela Gross, the education minister and deputy premier, will take on the justice portfolio and become minister responsible for labour and for the Human Rights Tribunal, he announced Monday in a news release.

These files were previously handled by Community and Government Services Minister David Akeeagok.

Minister Akeeagok will take on a number of roles formerly handled by Gross, including human resources. He’ll be the minister responsible for Workers’ Safety and Compensation Commission, Nunavut Business Credit Corp., Nunavut Development Corp., trade, and mines.

The new roles are effective immediately, the release said.

Akeeagok has seen many changes to his cabinet since he became premier in 2021, including the resignations of former ministers Joanna Quassa, Craig Simailak, Karen NutarakDaniel Qavvik, and Adam Arreak Lightstone, for various reasons.

Akeeagok removed Joelie Kaernerk’s portfolios in January 2024, citing unspecified code of conduct violations.

Monday’s announcement comes just months before the territorial election, which is set for Oct. 27.

Rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic. The metaphor has never been more true, except for when it was actually done on the Titanic.

PJ doesn’t have a political fight in him for Inuit. He just lucked out on this job because he’s a nice person. He just played Government; he doesn’t know how a Government works.

I see those who complain and criticize when PJ is doing a stellar job. Which Leader in Politics have you NOT put down or perhaps think you could do better living and working as they do? Trying Giving support as it goes a long way.

      “Stellar Job”.

Whatever you’re smoking, I’d give it a rest for a while.
Have you actually looked around at how the Territory is imploding?

The other parts of Nunavut have grown tired of nothing happening while this guy flies around getting pictures taken. Nunavut deserves better than more pictures!

Guy claims to wanna hear from people of Nunavut. Don’t waste any more of our time, we need a real leader not a kids picture book for our next government. You are so done PJ, bring your Facebook handlers with you.

It’s a family/friend thing, easy come easy go. But wait until FALL when we will see a real Government that’s not playing behind curtains and no more set up planned photo ops. like walking off from a non functional Van
