David Suqslak and Matthias Kaunak spent nine days teaching eight Pond Inlet residents between the ages of 16 and 35 how to build qamutiks. The group finished its eighth qamutik on Dec. 1, and one of those eight will be given away by the hamlet as a Christmas present to a community member by random draw. Typically, the awards are handed out at the Nunavut Trade Show, but the trade show was cancelled this year due to COVID-19.
